Static Pressure in a duct system affects the performance of a heating and cooling system like cholesterol affects the performance of a heart.

Total External Static Pressure (TESP) is used to measure the resistance in a duct system that’s created by the evaporator coil, filter, registers, grills, return air duct and the supply air duct.

Total blood cholesterol is a measurement of the amount of cholesterol stuck to the walls of blood vessels creating resistance to the pumping of the heart. Cholesterol plays a major role in the health of a person’s heart. High blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and stroke. That’s why it’s important for everybody to test for their cholesterol level.

Similarly, static pressure plays a major role in how well a heating and cooling system performs. When there’s more static pressure than the system can handle, airflow from the blower fan plummets like a rock and so does the Energy Efficiency rating of the heating and cooling system. In fact, high static pressure can easily reduce the efficiency of the system by 50%. That’s why it’s important to test the duct system for static pressure.

To lower cholesterol, doctors normally recommend diet, exercise and some sort of daily medication.

To lower static pressure, a properly trained and knowledgeable contractor needs to repair the duct system.

At Nevada Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing we’ve invested thousands of dollars in static pressure analyzing instruments and countless hours of training for properly repairing static pressure problems. We consider ourselves the premier Reno/Sparks heating and air conditioning contractor and want to be THE company for all your heating and cooling needs.
