The Duct System!
If We Don’t Test You Don’t Know!®
If you want to receive the best value for your money, with year around comfort and without high energy costs, your contractor must test for 3 problems that may be hidden your ductwork. They are…
- Static Pressure. High static pressure is the single biggest reason why a heating and/or cooling system will not deliver the manufacturers' designed energy efficiency rating. Static Pressure is defined as the amount of resistance of airflow within your ducting system.
- Air Leakage. Gray duct tape is commonly used in the HVAC industry to seal the ducts joints, but the warm temperature within the duct system it dries the tape's sticky glue causing the duct tape to loosen and fall off and create air leaks.
A study by a Department of Energy states: "The biggest reason for air leakage that causes higher than normal energy costs is the use of gray duct tape for sealing ducts."
- Loss of the heated and cooled air in the duct system. Ductwork that passes through attics and crawlspaces often isn't insulated or isn't insulated enough to protect the air inside the duct system from the outside air. In winter, your heated warm air cools down before it gets into your home, and in summer the cold air warms up as it passes through these spaces.
The Department Of Energy states: "Duct repairs could be the most important energy improvement measure you can do in a home."
